Snowmobiling

Snowmobiles trail 8

Maple Ridge Resort is a snowmobiler’s paradise! Located just off Trail 8, guests can ride from their room and explore trail loops in any direction. Resort owner, Bob, is a groomer with the Moose Country Snowmobile Club and is always up-to-date on current trail conditions. He can help you plan your ride and give ideas on routes to take, sites to see, and places to eat and fuel up along the ride. The resort has room for truck and trailer parking, and snowmobiles can be parked just outside your door.

We offer snowmobile rentals through Meyer Yamaha in Ishpeming. Let them know you’re staying at Maple Ridge Resort and we can arrange to have the sleds here and ready to ride when you arrive.

Maple Ridge Resort’s spacious guest rooms are a perfect place to warm up and relax after a day of exploring the backwoods. We also have garage space for last minute repairs and maintenance.

Snow Biking

snow bike family

Mountain biking doesn’t have to end just because there’s snow on the ground! Fat tire bikes have wider tires, allowing riders to stay above the snow without tires sinking in and getting stuck. Marquette County is home to the Range Area Mountain Bike Association (known as RAMBA), with more than twenty miles of winter groomed snow bike trails. The woods transform in the winter, with most of the rocks and roots being hidden beneath the snow. Trails are smooth and fun for any level of rider.

Maple Ridge Resort has a 1-mile snow bike trail on the property, perfect for beginners wanting to try snow biking for the first time. For longer rides, we offer snow bike and gear rentals through Sports Rack in Marquette, and can help you plan your ride. Snow biking is a unique way to enjoy snowy Upper Peninsula winters!

Hiking

The Upper Peninsula’s rugged, rocky terrain offers nearly endless hiking opportunities at all skill levels! Hikers who are willing to climb are rewarded with spectacular views for miles. Some trails are as close as walking distance from the resort, and many more trails can be explored with a short drive.

Marquette County is home to more waterfalls than any other county in Michigan; 69 to be exact! While some are only accessible from rugged trails, many are only a short hike off the road. Take a day and explore!

Lake Michigamme is one of the largest inland lakes in Michigan, with over 4,700 acres and 27 islands! Maple Ridge Resort is conveniently located near the DNR boat ramp, and has a private protected cove for docking your boat during your stay. We also have a fish house with electric and running water available for cleaning the day’s catch.

Paddle Sports

Maple Ridge Resort has two kayaks and two paddleboards available for guests to use to explore the lake. The varied terrain and warmer waters of Lake Michigamme make it an ideal place for paddle sports. Kayakers and paddle boarders will be sure to appreciate the interesting shorelines and 27 islands throughout the lake. The waters are often calm, making exploring the lake fun and enjoyable. Our shallow shoreline makes launching easy, and if you prefer to bring your own equipment, we have ample space for storing equipment and trailers during your stay.
